Maintenance Day
Time for an oil change and tire rotation, so I can get the most out of my Jeep and tire investment.
I’ve never really enjoyed rotating the tires, mainly because of the need to get the Jeep up on four stands in order to do the tire rotation. It’s not that it’s difficult to get up on the stands. But it does add to the amount of time it takes complete the tire rotation.
I use to take my Jeep to a local auto shop for my tire rotations. However, the last time I did this – the auto shop failed to torque my lugs and later that day my Jeep felt a bit squirrely on the road. So I pulled into a parking lot and noticed that every wheel was missing at-least one lug, and all the other lugs were loose… none the less I was very disappointed with the shop and the potential risk they caused by their lack of attention to detail. Luckily, I had a few lugs in my Jeep and I added them to the wheels and torqued everything down to get myself back home.
From that day forward I have rotated my tires myself – so I can ensure it’s done correctly, and torqued to spec.
